Blackbird Autonomous Aerial Security Vehicle: 3D Printed Parts Improve Drone Manufacture

Mar 4, 2018

Blackbird is an autonomous aerial security vehicle. FAA approved for nighttime and multi-drone operations, Nightingale Security ushers in the era of the rapid-response, robotic aerial security swarm. This sophisticated security drone can autonomously patrol a property providing live thermal and RGB video feeds, as well as quickly respond to alarms or emergencies 24/7. This complex security equipment utilizes 3D printed parts from Raise3D in its product manufacturing.

How 3D Printers from Raise3D Improved Manufacturing

The precise 3D printers from Raise3D produced highly customized parts which are difficult to mold and manufacture. 3D printed filaments have temperatures up to 300℃, making it possible for the right material to be chosen for each component. For example, High strength from PC (Polycarbonate) filament is possible for the frame and motor mounts, while light strength from PLA (Polylactic acid) filament is perfect for the camera shroud, and flexible impact-absorbing TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) filament for the feet.
